It’s always fun to experiment with lighting. I’m enjoying back lighting lately, I love the smokey sunrise feeling that comes from overexposure and camera glare.

Luckily, I grabbed my camera before taking my daughter to school this morning (she also had her camera!). Just minutes after sunrise, this old truck was bathed in the most beautiful morning sunlight. My early rising and morning tiredness were well worth it.

What a beautiful, elegant and modern wedding! We all braved through ninety degree heat during the formals and bride and groom portraits in Tanner Springs in NW Portland. Luckily we had plenty of water, and a backup plan for finding photographic shaded areas. I’m glad they chose Tanner Springs for their formals, it gave their photos a nice blend of natural and urban characteristics. Then we were off to the Portland Art Museum for an outdoor ceremony, the beautifully shaded area was the perfect setting for a sweet and entertaining ceremony. We then met at Hotel de Lux’s restaurant Gracie’s for an evening of toasts, stories, dancing, and a sunset portrait session of the Bride and Groom. I had so much fun at Matt and Kate’s wedding, and my husband was the DJ! Here are some of the highlights of their wedding.
I don’t visit my hometown often, but when I do I’m sure to stop by the local Saturday Farmers Market on the Capital Square. My Dad and I have been taking photos together during my visit and you can see both of us in the center photo, along with a jumping kid! I had a blast doing a couples portrait with Mike & Mary. They were so great at posing and making each other laugh. Check out how cute they are!
I really enjoyed the organic process of our adventure, letting the location choose us and going with it. As you can see, we found some great hidden spots just waiting for us.
I took these photos the other night, just as the almost full moon disappeared behind some clouds. I thought I had missed the moment, but as usual I found another moment that was much more interesting! Here I played with the light of the moon and other street lights as a backlight for some foreground shapes.
A trip to the Tulip Festival, here are some of my digital photos. Film still to come!
